Best Winter Apps for Android

This post will probably be more useful for people who live in the Northern Hemisphere. I apologize for our readers in the Southern one.

Only a few more days before Daylight saving time ends, if it hasn’t ended already in your time zone. It is getting colder. I believe it hasn’t been snowing yet, but it has been raining more frequently. Therefore, we thought it would be most appropriate to gather some great apps for the cold winter days ahead.

IMDb (Free)

unnamedIs there anyone out there who hasn’t heard of IMDb? Well, their app is as great as their website.

This is the largest online collection movies, TV and celebrity info. You can find everything here, ranging from movie trailers to reviews, trivia and quotes. A great new feature allows the app to notify you on new movie-related events of your choice. What I like best is browsing through the popular and recommended movies charts to get great ideas for movies that I might have missed.

This app may be very handy, especially on cold winter nights, when all you want is to stay at home and watch a great movie.

1Weather (Free)

1weatherWe’ve discussed this app before when we covered weather apps in a previous post. In our mind, it’s more than just a “nice-to-have” to get all the weather info in the palm of your hand. This app is a must, especially in the winter.

We’ve said it before and we now say it again, this is probably the only weather app you will need. Highly recommended.

Allthecooks Recipes (Free)

This is an excellent food app that covers it all. You’re bound to find any dish that comes to your mind. I personally recommend the soups and stews section, especially when it’s pouring outside. The app allows you to save favorite recipes, browse by reviews, plan meals and create shopping lists based on the dishes you liked the best.

So, what are you waiting for? Download the app, get your stockpot on the stove and start cooking!

Crazy Snowboard (Free)

crazy snowboardOne of the many ways to classify a person is whether she’s a skier or a snowboarder. They say that skiing is easier to learn but harder to master, while the opposite goes for snowboarding.

Whichever type of person you think you are, I’m pretty sure that you will have a great time playing this game. You can now jump, spin, and grind like you have never done before. The game offers several modes, whether it may be special missions or simple freestyling down the slope. It is considered as the best snowboard game app out there, which makes it an easy one to recommend.

So, even if you are not the biggest skiing fan around, I’m sure that you will have lots of fun playing riding this app.

Fire Place HD (Free)

fireplaceLast but not least, I would like to recommend another cool app. Nothing too fancy or complicated. Many of us don’t have a fire place at home. Those who do will find this app completely useless. Those who don’t and wish they had one, may appreciate this app as much as I do.

My recommendation is turning off the lights and turning on this app. It works even better if your significant other is sitting next to you. Enjoy!
